How to play Pot Limit Hold'em
Pot-limit hold’em Texas hold’em is by far the most popular of poker games played in the world and it is used in major televised championship tournaments. There are no-limits games where the players can play as much money as they like and go all in, limit games where strict blinds are set to indicate betting, or you can get pot-limit hold’em where only the amount that is in the pot at that time will be the limit for betting.
This is a similar version to no limit hold’em, but helps those that do not have a lot of money to spare. The same rules are followed for pot-limit hold’em as all of the other games of hold’em, meaning that you will still start with your two hole cards. The betting will start according to what cards each player has. An ace with a king for example, is a good hand. The initial bets for the first two rounds are set by the big blind, so they must be equal to it. Pot-limit hold’em will proceed with the flop (three community cards) and more raising and betting will follow that just as before, so the rule for the big blind must be followed. Then the dealer will reveal the turn card which is face up. The betting and raises are now double that of the set big blind amount. The players can also raise by the size of the pot and call their opponent. They are then able to witness the river card to see who wins.

The winner of the pot-limit hold’em game will have to prove it in the showdown with making the best poker hand using any of the seven cards available. The pot-limit hold’em game is more intense than limited hold’em, but it is not as risky for you as the no-limit hold’em. In this game you can still regain your lost chips even if you have a little left, whereas in the no- limits hold’em you will be eliminated if you go all in and lose.
The strategies of bluffing and semi bluffing are the same in pot-limit hold’em but players are advised to not use these strategies too much, although they can help you to win large amounts of money that can be in the pot. ‘Tells’ are important to look out for in other players. These ‘tells’ can be anything from fidgets, unique mannerisms and these can tell you if a player is bluffing or if he has a good hand. The “tells” are subconscious so you must be observant and also try to stop any tells that you might have so you cannot be read easily.
To read the players in pot-limit hold’em you can use other things like looking at how they play and what type of player they are. Players might play if they have a good hand which makes them tight aggressive players, and others will play when they have good or poor hands, making them loose players. Some players may bet too much or too little, and can give away certain traits as to what cards they are hiding.
